Embossed PETG Film and Textured Decorative Sheet

Texture is what stops a decorative panel from looking like a printed picture of a material. A leather decor that is smooth to the touch reads as fake within a second of someone running a hand across it; the same print with the right grain depth reads as leather. Goflexpet produces embossed film on its own printing and embossing lines in Ganzhou, China, in leather, wood, stone, linen and geometric textures for furniture, cabinetry and interior panels.

How Embossing Works

The texture is pressed into the film by an engraved steel roller under heat and pressure, and the engraving on that roller is the real product. Depth, pitch and pattern are all fixed in the tooling, which is why texture quality tracks so closely with who owns the rollers. On synchronized grades the roller is registered to the printed decor, so a wood grain's texture falls exactly on the printed grain line and a leather's pores sit inside the printed hide pattern. Random embossing applies the texture without that alignment. It costs less and is perfectly acceptable on plain colors and on panels seen at a distance, but on a wood or leather decor the difference is visible immediately.

Textures We Produce

  • Leather and hide grains, including full-grain and pebble textures for 3D tactile surfaces
  • Wood grains, synchronized to the printed decor
  • Stone, slate and concrete textures
  • Linen, fabric and woven effects
  • Geometric, hairline and technical patterns
  • Soft-touch matte textures for low-sheen interiors

Custom engravings are produced from a supplied physical sample, on a dedicated roller.

Why PETG Takes an Emboss Well

Glycol-modified polyester has a wide forming window, so it accepts a deep texture without stress-whitening and holds that texture after lamination and edge wrapping. It contains no chlorine and no plasticizer package of the kind used in PVC foils, which matters for projects specifying PVC-free interiors. Embossing plastic film of this type also keeps the surface durable: the texture is formed in the material rather than printed onto it, so it does not wear off with cleaning. In practice these are the reasons furniture manufacturers move from PVC foil to polyester without changing their lamination line.

Applications

Cabinet doors and carcasses, wardrobe fronts, wall and ceiling panels, door skins, shopfitting, office furniture and hospitality joinery. The material laminates flat onto MDF, particleboard and plywood, and follows a profiled edge within its forming window, so an embossed plastic sheet can run continuously across a face and around its profile. Rigid plastic embossed sheets are also used for fabricated components and display work where the texture is the finished surface rather than a laminate. Roll-format embossed plastic film feeds continuous lamination and profile-wrapping lines, which is how most volume furniture production runs it.

Choosing Texture Depth

Deeper is not automatically better. A pronounced leather grain looks convincing on a flat door and can be difficult to wrap cleanly around a tight radius, while a shallow texture wraps easily but reads as flat under raking light. The honest way to decide is to laminate a sample onto your own substrate, at your own press settings, and look at it under the lighting the finished panel will sit in. We send material for exactly that trial, and we would rather change the depth before the tooling is committed than after.

Specifications

  • Thickness 0.18–2.0 mm, 100% virgin polymer
  • Width 300–1400 mm; rolls up to 38 inches diameter on 76 mm cores
  • Roll stock for continuous lamination, or plastic sheets embossed and cut to panel size
  • Synchronized or random emboss; matte, satin and gloss topcoats
  • Peelable protective film on the decorative face

Deeper textures hold slightly more adhesive and can change press settings, so run a lamination trial on sample material before committing a production schedule.

Working with the Factory Directly

As an embossed film manufacturer rather than a trader, we control the engraving, the print and the extrusion in one plant, under ISO 9001 with REACH and RoHS compliance for export. That matters because texture consistency between batches depends entirely on the roller and how it is run. Custom embossed films are made from a physical sample you send: the engraving carries a higher first-order minimum and a longer initial lead time, then repeat orders run against the same roller and match. Send your texture reference, decor, gauge, width and annual volume to sales@goflexpet.com and samples will go out before any bulk order.

FAQ

What is the difference between synchronized and random embossing?

Synchronized embossing registers the texture to the printed decor, so a wood grain's texture falls on the printed grain line and a leather's pores sit inside the printed pattern. Random embossing applies texture without that alignment. Random costs less and works well on plain colors or panels viewed at a distance; on wood and leather decors the difference is immediately visible up close.

Can you create a custom texture?

Yes. Send a physical sample of the surface you want reproduced and we will engrave a dedicated roller for it. Because the engraving is tooling, the first order carries a higher minimum quantity and a longer lead time, both quoted before you commit. After that, repeat orders run from the same roller, so texture depth and pattern stay consistent between batches and between years.

Does the texture survive lamination and edge wrapping?

Yes, within the material's forming window. The texture is formed into the polymer rather than printed on it, so it holds through flat lamination and profile wrapping and does not wear off with cleaning. Very deep textures on tight radii are the exception. Send your edge profile and press settings with the inquiry and we will confirm what depth will hold.

Is the material PVC-free?

Yes. This is glycol-modified polyester, with no chlorine and none of the plasticizers used in PVC decorative foils, which is why it suits projects specifying PVC-free interiors. It is fully recyclable, and REACH and RoHS documentation is supplied with the order. Most furniture manufacturers switch from PVC foil to this material without changing their lamination equipment.

What thickness should I order?

Thickness runs from 0.18 mm to 2.0 mm. Thinner film suits flat lamination onto board and profile wrapping, while heavier gauges suit rigid panels, fabricated parts and display components where the sheet is the finished surface. The right gauge depends on your press, adhesive and edge treatment, so describe the panel construction and we will recommend one.
