Metallic PETG Film for Decorative and Appliance Panels

A brushed aluminum panel looks right and costs accordingly: the metal itself, the finishing, the weight in transit, and the fabrication time. Metallic PETG gives a panel the same brushed, polished or anodized appearance at a fraction of the weight and cost, laminated onto board with equipment a furniture plant already owns. Goflexpet produces this range on its own lines in Ganzhou, China, for furniture, appliance fronts, shopfitting and interior architecture.

Two Ways to Make a Metallic Film

The effect can be built in two quite different ways, and the choice affects both appearance and price. Metallic pigments dispersed in the polymer or in the print layer produce a soft, directional shimmer and reproduce brushed and hairline finishes well. Vacuum metalizing deposits a genuine metal layer on the film, giving the bright, mirror-like reflectivity that a pigment cannot reach — this is what a buyer usually means by a metalized plastic sheet. Pigmented grades cost less and hide handling marks better; metalized PETG delivers the true chrome look. Tell us which appearance you are matching and we will recommend the route rather than assume it.

Finishes in This Range

  • Brushed and hairline effects in silver, champagne, bronze, gold and black
  • Polished and chrome-look mirror finishes
  • Anodized-aluminum appearance in a range of tones
  • Colored metallics matched to a Pantone or RAL reference
  • Matte, satin and gloss topcoats over any of the above

Directional finishes such as brushed and hairline have a grain, so panel layout has to respect it. Confirm the direction relative to the roll when you order.

Where a Metal PETG Surface Is Used

Appliance fronts and control panels are the largest single use, followed by kitchen and wardrobe doors, shopfitting, display units, lift interiors and wall panelling. Designers also use it as an accent surface against wood or matte color, where a full metal plastic sheet across an elevation would be too much. Because the decorative layer sits on a polyester film rather than on metal, the finished panel is far lighter than an aluminum composite, which reduces both hinge loading on doors and freight cost across a container. A rigid metallic plastic sheet is also used on its own for fabricated components, signage and display work, where the sheet is the finished part rather than a laminate over board.

There is one practical limit worth stating plainly. This is a decorative surface, not a structural metal: it will not take the impact or the heat that a genuine aluminum panel takes, and it is specified for interiors rather than for facades. Within that boundary it does what buyers want it to do — the appearance of machined metal, on furniture that a person can lift.

Specifications

  • Thickness 0.18–2.0 mm, 100% virgin polymer
  • Width 300–1400 mm; rolls up to 38 inches diameter on 76 mm cores
  • Roll stock for continuous lamination, or cut metallic film sheets for panel presses
  • Peelable protective film on the decorative face, recommended on all mirror finishes
  • Packing: PE film inner, kraft outer, palletized

PETG metallic film laminates to MDF, particleboard, plywood and aluminum composite with standard flat lamination equipment and PUR or EVA adhesives.

Handling Mirror Finishes

Any reflective surface shows what a matte one hides. Fine scratches, dust inclusions and substrate waviness all become visible on a polished panel under showroom lighting, and most of the damage happens inside the factory during stacking, edge banding and packing rather than in service. Two measures deal with it: keep the peelable protective film on until installation, and specify a hardened topcoat where panels are handled repeatedly. For long export routes we recommend both together on plastic metal sheets with a mirror finish.

Ordering and Custom Colors

We are the manufacturer — eight automated lines, roughly 50 tons of daily output, ISO 9001 certification, REACH and RoHS compliance for export. Custom metallic colors are matched to a physical sample or a Pantone or RAL reference and produced as dedicated runs, so minimum order quantity and lead time are higher than for standard shades; both are quoted before you commit. Wholesale roll supply and OEM or ODM programs are supported for panel manufacturers running scheduled volume. Send the finish, gauge, width and annual quantity to sales@goflexpet.com and samples will follow before any bulk order.

FAQ

What is the difference between pigmented and metalized film?

Pigmented grades carry metallic particles in the polymer or print layer and produce a soft, directional shimmer that suits brushed and hairline finishes. Vacuum metalized film carries a real deposited metal layer and delivers true mirror reflectivity. Pigmented material is cheaper and hides handling marks better; metalized material gives the genuine chrome appearance. Tell us the look you are matching and we will recommend one.

Can you match a specific metallic color?

Yes. Colors are matched to a physical sample or to a Pantone or RAL reference, across silver, champagne, bronze, gold, black and custom tones. Custom shades run as dedicated production, so the first order carries a higher minimum quantity and a longer lead time than standard finishes. Both figures are quoted up front, and repeat orders run consistently against the approved standard.

Does a brushed finish have a grain direction?

Yes. Brushed, hairline and other directional finishes have a visible grain that runs with the roll, so panel layout and cutting have to respect it or adjacent doors will not match. Confirm the required direction relative to the sheet when you place the order, and allow for it in your nesting. Non-directional finishes are available where layout flexibility matters more.

How do I stop mirror panels scratching in production?

Keep the peelable protective film on the decorative face until the panel is installed, and specify a hardened topcoat if panels are handled repeatedly during fabrication. Most visible damage on reflective surfaces happens during stacking, edge banding and packing rather than in service. For long export routes we recommend both measures together rather than either alone.

What substrates can it be laminated to?

MDF, particleboard, plywood and aluminum composite panel, using standard flat lamination equipment with PUR or EVA adhesive systems. The film also wraps a profiled edge within its forming window. Because the decorative layer sits on polyester rather than on metal, the finished panel is significantly lighter than an aluminum composite of the same size, which reduces hinge loading and freight cost.
