If you’ve had trouble with inconsistent seals on your high-frequency (RF) welding lines, our GAG rolls are the answer. By utilizing a thick PETG outer layer, these sheets provide a wide sealing window and exceptional bond strength that pure APET cannot achieve. The material responds beautifully to thermoforming, maintaining uniform color density even in deep-draw cavities. It’s engineered to be "tooling-friendly," resulting in cleaner die-cuts and less wear on your molds. Ideal for colorful tool inserts, medical trays, and heavy-duty clamshells that require both aesthetic pop and structural integrity.

In the world of high-performance thermoforming, material choice is often a trade-off between cost and capability. Color GAG Plastic Sheets eliminate this compromise through a sophisticated three-layer co-extrusion process. By sandwiching a core of rigid APET (Amorphous Polyethylene Terephthalate) between two outer layers of PETG (Glycol-modified PET), GAG sheeting delivers the best of both worlds: the structural integrity and cost-efficiency of APET with the premium finish and weldability of PETG.
One of the primary frustrations when using colored APET for folding boxes or deep-draw trays is stress whitening. When the material is bent or stretched, the polymer chains in standard PET can rearrange into a crystalline structure, causing the color to turn white or opaque at the creases. The GAG structure mitigates this through its PETG outer skins. PETG is naturally amorphous and ductile; it absorbs the mechanical stress of folding and deep-drawing without fracturing. This ensures that your custom colors remain vibrant and consistent, even at sharp 90-degree angles or in the deep corners of a vacuum-formed cavity.
For manufacturers utilizing high-frequency (RF) welding or heat-sealing for blister packs and clamshells, standard APET is notoriously difficult to bond. The outer PETG layers of our Color GAG rolls act as a high-performance "adhesive skin." PETG has a lower melting point and a wider sealing window, allowing for faster cycle times and a hermetic, fiber-tear bond. This significantly reduces the rate of "leaker" packs and increases the overall throughput of automated sealing lines.
Color GAG provides a "wet-look" high-gloss finish that standard materials cannot replicate. Because the color pigments are integrated into the core APET layer while the outer PETG layers remain crystal clear, the material exhibits a unique optical depth. Furthermore, the PETG surface is naturally more resistant to scuffing and chemical "clouding" during the shipping and handling process. This means your product arrives on the retail shelf with its showroom shine intact, directly influencing consumer perception of brand quality.
Despite its premium performance, Color GAG remains a cost-effective alternative to pure PETG. By utilizing APET for the majority of the sheet’s thickness, manufacturers can achieve significant material savings without sacrificing the critical sealing and folding properties of the surface. Most importantly, GAG is 100% recyclable within the standard PET stream (Code #1), making it a sustainable choice for brands looking to meet strict ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) mandates without compromising on design.
